Despite the initial appearance, I couldn't resist this Shape 269 Prehistoric Bulldog. It came out quite nice. I had bought it with the intention of flipping it, but for now, it must stay (OK,I'm a sucker for a GBD bulldog).

Very nice!
I have 2 GBD Prehistoric pipes (Pot and a Billiard) with Perspex stems and they are both great smokers ... congrats!

As always nice work Al! This is a great shape.
I love getting a pipe that's caked up like this. A lot of times, for me atleast, the walls will be in good shape like this one. Ofcourse then there's a couple times where it's heartbreaking.

Great job Al, as always!
I love the shape and the blast on this one.
I would too have a hard time parting with it.
Great addition.
Cheers,
J

Yes, the rim job is terrific! You said that you started with 600 and the next mention is a very fine grit, 8,000. Were there intermediate steps? Free hand or others?

Sorry, that was a little unclear. I used 600 grit, just until I had the deposit off, then 8000 grit micromesh. The buffer was the real key - White Diamond and several coats of Carnuba wax to finish the bowl top. (I updated the article, thanks!)

So... You're the sniper. I'm glad it went to a good home. That's a great looking bulldog. The color contrast is just lovely on that pipe. Nicely done as always.
