I came across this interesting idea thought I'd pass it along for those of us who like using matches on windy days.

"The familiar difficulty of lighting a match in a wind can be to a great extent overcome if thin shavings are first cut on the match towards its striking end, as shown in the picture. On lighting the match the curled strips catch fire at once; the flame is stronger and has a better chance.

Thanks bunches Mirain. I just tried that trick with my Old Boy lighter (notorious for not lighting in wind). Guess the trick only works with matches. I'm now looking for a new old Boy. :cry:

Good idea! I will down load it to my memory banks. Who knows I may be with out my zippo on some windy day?
