These are some small loaves of sourdough rye bread that I make for eating with cheese, soup, dinner, etc. I make everything from scratch and knead the dough. Next batch will be French bread for Thanksgiving!

Yowsa, that looks so good I can almost smell it. I do most of the cooking at my place, tend to make everything from scratch but bread (beyond bisquits) is not among my skills, thus far. Big thumbs up for that.

Great looking loaves,Coalsmoke! It's nice to see another member is a bread baker. I also love a good sourdough bread, but my specialty is potato bread made with Yukon Gold potatoes. I find bread baking, and pipe smoking to have a lot in common, they are both very relaxing and therapeutic activities.

I can smell that bread from here, coalsmoke. I used to bake all my own bred when I lived on shore. On the boat in my small galley cooking anything is a challenge.

I like to make onion bread. Except, well, I have to admit that I use a bread machine.

I don't use a bread machine anymore. I was using a Kitchenaid 6qt stand mixer to do my initial kneading, and finishing by hand, but most times I knead by hand. I find the kneading to be a relaxing part of the process. Before anyone asks, yes, I played with play-doh when I was a kid.

    Looks yummy!

I have also recently picked up baking. I find it very satisfying to create fresh bread, buns etc. Next I'll try my hand at pastries.

My job doesn't pay all that well, so yhis is the only real dough that I make! Thanks for the kind words, Guys. If I want a really large loaf, I bake it in my Romertopf clay baker. My wife likes the honey whole wheat that I bake and I'm a fan of multi-grain breads. When we move to Ohio, I want the grandkids to have a good supply of home made bread the way that my Grandmother used to bake for us when I was a kid.

We're moving from Connecticut to the Akron area where our daughter and her family live. Our timeline is to be moved into a new place by mid-March.
