This week one of my staff near retirement age found me and said "you like that scotch whiskey right? We just bought a new house and someone left a full bottle, I'll give it to you."
The next day she brought me a sealed, unopened bottle of Bookers - a cask strength bourbon worth about $55. Yes please!

Here's the report. I did try one sip of this stuff neat, which was like drinking great tasting fire...but still fire. Even the distiller recommends water in this one.
I actually used it in a Manhattan with 2:1 bourbon:sweet vermouth, 3 dashes bitters, and a twist of orange. I also stirred it with ice a long time to get just a bit of dilution. The result was the best friggin' Manhattan I've had (sorry to the rye purists).

I'm sick and tired of people not giving me free bottles of scotch. It seems like I don't get free liquor on a daily basis. Congrats to you though!

I prefer Bakers and Knob Creek Single Cask from the JB Small Batch selection - Bookers is really a little bit on the strong side.
