James J. Fox Dorisco Mixture - pure Perique added to a base of coarse cut Virginian mixture. I bought a tin last month and was reluctant to try it because of the very strong peppery smell of the tobacco. It literally smells like a straight out-of-the-pit barbecued Texas brisket! I just tried it, and it is now one of my favorite tobaccos! The smoke is mild and very pleasant, not overbearing in the least. I thought the taste was appetizing, really. If you are relunctant to try Perique - don't be, I thought it was great.

I've never tried it, but I do like Perique, so maybe I'll give this one a go soon. Thanks for mentioning it!

A few years back, I read a post about this blend on another forum..., so I bought a tin and let it sit in the cellar for long enough to forget it was there. When I found it again, I opened the tin and got half way thru a bowl before ordering more to age. One thing leads to another and I discovered that Campanile, Hibernia, Provost Mixture and the Bankers are also to my liking. I tried to like the Squire's Mixture, but it is out of my taste profile.

I've got a tin of Dorisco with about a year of age on it. I may have to crack it open soon. Thanks for the report.
Aw geez, there's only a bazillion blends out there I've gotta try!
