Forum Notifications via Email?

I better be careful or I'll lose my lurker status here soon!

Is there a way to receive email notification of thread replies and private messages? I have tried to configure my email address, but the form won't accept anything but my user name in the email field. I did not notice a PM sent months ago and would like to know when replies hit threads where I have posted.

PM notifications are usually done through email. And, if you are logged in to the forum on the upper right margin. I believe you can mark threads of interest but, I'm not aware of email notification for that.

I've 'discovered' a way to follow those discussions you've entered. You go to your profile page and scroll down to the sections marked 'user activity'. You'll see a list of those threads you've contributed to, and a list of those you initiated, with links.
