We just got our first cold snap here in Kentucky. 30°F, and my joints are already aching.

Go another 100 miles west and they’ve probably been buried in snow since mid October.
I spent a few years in the foothills a while back and got to see the landscape transform from “fall” to snow filling the ditches “winter” within a couple hours drive.
(Actually I don’t think Rotten Monkey Horse is even that far away)
