I shot this short video of some old rides at the Wheelersburg car show yesterday, featuring the very first Dodge Challenger. '59 Challenger you may be wondering? Yes, me too. Never heard of such a thing. The owner showed me a Mopar Magazine article featuring this very car. It is unrestored and all original.

I once owned and drove a 1959 Plymouth Fury with a 3 speed push button automatic transmission, and the incredibly reliable 318 engine.

I also have seen Tony Joe White (1969) perform Poke Salad Annie. That was a fine day.

Great video, looks like a fun time. We have a bi-monthly cruise here that gets about 1000 cars per night.

I wasn't familiar with Tony Joe White, but had fun teasing my wife that he wrote Polk Salad Annie (she's a huge Elvis fan, who stole nearly every song he sang... )

Cool video Dave ! I especially like that Dodge! The Buick Special brought back some memories of me and my cousin and a 58 Buick.

You need to come to the annual GREASERAMA where you might run into Dick Dale or Link Wray (Jr), you never know!

I was around memorizing the makes of cars when some of those machines were still new and stock. I can still spot of '59 Pontiac grill in my peripheral vision. Love the sound track here.

The Karb Kings of Baltimore do an annual "Greaseball" that is a lot of fun. Cars, choppers, rock-a-billy.

It rained off and on all day Saturday so only the die hards brought their cars this time. My father was unable to make it to the show, so I made this video for him and thought if there were any gearheads on the forum they might like to check it out.
@ Anthony

The rat rod bike you mentioned is powered by an old Greyhound bus engine.
I'm a huge fan of the classic cars and go to the cruise in every chance I get.
Do they make a cologne that smells like Latakia and burning tires?

Dave, thanks for the post! I am a big classic/contemporary muscle car fan and this is the first i have heard of the '59 Challenger, which is pretty cool for sure. I currently own a '10 Hemi-Orange Challenger R/T with the "Classic" package including the retro R/T side stripes and Krager-inspired polished aluminum wheels. I cannot believe the '59 only weighed 3750 lbs, as the new challengers hover around 4100-4200 lbs stock. Kind of makes you wonder why they couldn't have shed a few hundred when designing the new era Challengers, shedding with it the reputation of the "boats" that these cars get labeled as (rightfully so, lol). Again, cool post and great read!
