I know nothing about meerschaum pipes so please forgive a dumbass question, okay?
Can you use an alcohol retort on meerschaums?
Thanks.

I understand that it is not recommended, as alcohol can close off the pores on a meer that allow for the seasoning and coloring effect. I could be wrong, however, but it has kept me from buying estate meers.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Unfortunately, I picked up an estate the other day and the previous owner had a fondness for aromatics. Reckon I'll hit it with some heavy Lats and drive on.
Thanks, pal.

I'm also new to meers. One of the traits of the meer that attracted me is it isn't supposed to ghost previous tobaccos. I have one estate meer with no ghost problems, and two new meers. I'm trying a new tobacco in the estate as I type and I'm enjoying this English Oriental, and I've smoked aro's in the same pipe. For the best cleaning method you could PM TopD.

FNG, where you in military?
