A paper plate. It is a good surface to keep it drying out on too. If I'm out of paper plates I use this:

The nice thing about paper is the ability to fold it and neatly dump your unused tobacco back in it's tin. But then again I'm cheap, and hate to waste even a little bit of tobacco.

I use an 8.5" x 11" sheet of filler paper many times before needing a new sheet. It's cheap and effective. It makes great creases so I can funnel those little bits of tobacco right on top of the bigger pieces for making a great first light.

I have 2 wooden bowls in the smoking cabinet for that.

Found a set of 8 for $1 at Salvation Army.

Perfect size for drying out and then loading a pipe as well as something to rub a flake into.
CCP drying in the one to the left and a cob just loaded with AJ's to the right.

Pawpaw that is if you want to simplify the process, he will just get it in the end! :puffy:
I use printer paper as of late... I got tired of washing bowls (I am lazy)
