That is actually very interesting I never thought of making my own pipe. How much Time and Labor goes into something like that?

when i first started it took awhile. now i can ruff shape one in about an hour. then use a dremmel the shape and sand. on the rustic work with the gouger it took about another. 2 to 3 hours i have in it.

How much work is doing the finish? I can do the carving no prob, but I would be worried about doing the finishing.

depends. smooth finish a lot of sanding, rustic you don`t have to sand as much but have to be brave enough to use the dremmel or a gouging tool. i use the acohol based leather stain for staining,

To do a good job on a smooth finish takes time and patience. I finish sand mine while surfing the net. Being pretty much disabled I don't have a whole lot else to do other than keep the stove full and puddle around with projects.
