I've been a lone pipe smoker for awhile. Last night I saw a guy from my church and he was admiring my pipe, telling me how he'd like to quit cigarettes and take up the pipe. He said he has some of his grandfather's pipes he'd like to restore and use. He expressed interest in getting together and learning to smoke a pipe and explore blends. Well, I'm about as happy as a goat in a tin can factory! :D

I hooked my nicotine-averse friend onto pipes half an year back,

Now he is a pleasant smoking companion, and a steady source of samples.

Quite excellent.

Nice when that happens. My wife introduced me to long-time friends, a couple. He's a strong personality and was kind of testing me. I think I handled it okay, but then we discovered that we were both pipe smokers, the whole temperature in the room changed. Since then, I've sent him tobacco and they've sent me pipes, and they're some of our closer friends, although in a different state.

Had a buddy at work who has been asking about my pipes and the various tobaccos so I laid a cob on him with a few samples and I'm waiting to see if it sticks. so far he likes it and has been asking lots of questions.

I tried teaching my dog to smoke a pipe too, figuring

it would make him better company for us to sit together

and share a smoke but he just kept burying the pipes out

back in the yard!

I found a few of them and dug them up but lost a couple Barlings.

So I tried switching him to a cob. Cheaper to lose and

they suited his looks a lot more.

But he just ate all the cobs. Damned dog.

Finally gave him away to a friend.

You are blessed! My schedule is so weird I can never seem to get together with the one guy in town I know smokes a pipe. I am thinking of trying to set up an informal Portland/Vancouver get together, but venue is nigh impossible.

It's nice to have a pipe smoking buddy. I have a friend that comes over almost on a weekly basis as we have similar days off, so we get together frequently.

I have influenced two of my friends to take up the pipe. Actually I'm going to one of them this weekend to share dinner and tobacco
