It would seem that we have exhausted our “Complaints about Spring”.
So, I think it’s time to list the things we like about Spring.
    1) Warm weather, with comfortable evenings. Perfect for sitting on one’s porch and enjoying a pleasant pipe.
    2) Women have begun to wear shorts again.
    3) Cherry blossoms
    4) Bar-B-Q
(Quite possibly the greatest thing I like about Spring)
    5) “I’m sorry Sugar, I would love to go shopping with you but, I have to mow the lawn.”

Warm + water + sun = girls at the beach. It’s amazing what they pass off as swim suits now days.

Actually don’t really mind the mowing. I love kicking back on the deck with a cold one while the grill is smoking away. Oh yeah, I’m usually smoking away as well.

Pstlpkr... I couldn't agree more, but living up North like I currently do I have one to add. After a long winter there is something special about the sing of the birds in the morning. A cool Sunday morning with a pipe and a strong cup of coffee on the patio with the birds in the trees enjoying the morning sun... now that's peace.

No, we haven't exhausted the complaints. I have a new one, that damned mockingbird just outside my window trying to get himself a girlfriend at first light. The local woodpecker doesn't help my sleep either.

I'm glad Spring is finally here...I hate Winter with every fiber of my being.

It's going to be so much more comfortable smoking on the back deck now.

Have to agree with the weather. Love it being comfortable temperature for a late evening pipe. Also love how here in Vegas it's only April and we can pretty much swim already.

    EVERYTHING ! ! !

I love spring. Birds chirping again, things thawing out and coming to life again...just feels like the whole world is waking up after a long sleep. I tend to take to the woods most in spring and fall. love to watch the process of slow dying and steady rebirth. Both are great for photography and pipe smoking. Latakia use increases in the fall and Virginias start to dominate my rotation this time of year. I do love the four seasons as I grew up in Ohio.

when faces called flowers float out of the ground

when faces called flowers float out of the ground
and breathing is wishing and wishing is having-
but keeping is downward and doubting and never
    -it's april (yes,april;my darling)it's spring!
yes the pretty birds frolic as spry as can fly
yes the little fish gambol as glad as can be
(yes the mountains are dancing together)
when every leaf opens without any sound
and wishing is having and having is giving-
but keeping is doting and nothing and nonsense
    -alive;we're alive,dear:it's(kiss me now)spring!
now the pretty birds hover so she and so he
now the little fish quiver so you and so i
(now the mountains are dancing, the mountains)
when more than was lost has been found has been found
and having is giving and giving is living-
but keeping is darkness and winter and cringing
    -it's spring(all our night becomes day)o,it's spring!
all the pretty birds dive to the heart of the sky
all the little fish climb through the mind of the sea
(all the mountains are dancing;are dancing)

Fog comeing off the creeks and out of the bottoms on cool mornings . Flowers in the fields and the car turning yellow from pollen .

Getting my bike off the trainer and on the road. Getting my scooter out and about. Wearing shorts and knowing summer is just around the corner when me and the mutt can hang out at the beach and swim in that miracle known as Lake Michigan. Chicago is a great city in the summer.

I love everything about Spring except the freakin' pollen. Here in GA, the stuff coats everything in a greenish yellow dust and I seem to be allergic to several types of pollen.

Other than that, we have about 6-8 bird feeders out on the side yard and enjoy watching chipping sparrows, doves, blue jays, cardinals, grackles, and all kinds of finches.

I enjoy smoking my pipe and reading a book while watching the kids play in the yard.
Now, hopefully, I can get out and play a few rounds of golf this year, or go get some fishing in. Haven't done either in a few years.

Edited to add: Oh yeah, and #2 is a beautiful thing!

Southerners don't talk slow because they're dumb, we do it because there's really no rush.

    2) Women have begun to wear shorts again.

They only stop for 2-3 weeks a year o'er here.

Yeah, there were a few moments of pretty hard stuff, but it blew through pretty fast. Seems to have calmed down finally about 30 minutes ago. From the way it looks so far, I'm in an area that the storm split around and wasn't as intense.

    @ Bootleg,

We had Tur-nader just South of here.
It knocked out power at my sis-inlaw's for almost 3 days.
We had a lot of limbs and a few trees down around here.
    Power blinked several times.
We didn't watch the storm but, had no trouble hearing it.
We rode it out in the basement.

Smoking outside, and just generally being outside. MY dad and I fired up the grill for the first time tonight and I grilled some awesome steaks.

And naturally, the women come out of their shells of winter clothing, and I think this is best summed up by one of my favorite toasts:

What normally passes for Spring doesn't last long here. We move from winter to summer rather quickly, at least weather wise. But on those days it does feel like spring, I enjoy a nice trip to the Jackson Square early in the morning, right as the sun is rising and before the crazies come out, to enjoy a pipe, coffee and my newspaper.

    Fishing is good too.
