So what are your favorite after dinner Va blends? It seems I don't know what to smoke tonight and it made me wonder. I usually like a stronger blend at night.

I like ODF or stonehaven (more on the burley side) but want to try other things. Does Blackwoods flake a good night choice? I also got some Motzek strang maybe. I tried director's cut recently and it was a good night smoke.

Actually for me, after smoking Virginias all day, after dinner I want more flavor or strength than moat Virginias have. But, a nice Rattray like OG HOTW or MF are nice after dinner. Or, maybe something with a little Kentucky, like Superior Round 403. But, as it gets colder, I find myself grabbing a latakia for my after dinner smoke.

My first choice would probably be ODF for an after dinner Virginia based smoke. Others that come to mind are C&D Three Friars and Newminster 403 Superior Round Slices.

Ray47, tell me more about that birdseye. Can you taste a casing or any hint of a Lakeland? After finding Curly Cut DeLux, my curiousity of some of these lesser discussed GH Virginias has me curious.
Some people say that Dark Birdseye (DB) has a slight Lakeland flavor but I've never noticed it. I taste all Virginia. If you've ever smoked 5 Brothers (FB), think of DB as Five Brothers' Virginia cousin. Same cut but I find FB abit more stronger in nicotine then DB, probably because FB is all burley. But don't discount the strength of DB, it has a kick and if smoked too fast, it can put you down real quick.

Latakia or really bold Kentucky blends do it for me. But I would suggest Sam Gawith Full Virginia Flake.

For me lately, it's been Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake, although I have so many good Va's on hand -- Luxury Navy Flake, McC's 5100, and many highly recommended unopened tins, including McC's Christmas Cheer 2015 happily aging.

That's a great description and very accurate.
I've only noticed a very very slight trace of the Lakeland scent and it ain't really too intrusive at all,

DB is a very satisfying smoke.
Kendal Kentucky is my fave though,

ain't nuthin' else like it,

great stuff!

Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture. GL Pease Fillmore is pretty good too.

The aptly named Villiger 1888 After Dinner is a very smooth flake. I think it's been discontinued but Cup O' Joes had some left. It was better after about a year in the cellar.
