Smooth pipes haven't usually held any special place for me. If I sand one down, I go well past 600 grit so it is very smooth if I am refinishing for myself. I do have a decent number of blast finished pipes from factories. I will post some pics but what factory brands do you have with good blasts.
I have a weber, digby, barling, dr. grabow sepelcura, yello bole and probably a few others with good blasts.

I appreciate artisan blasts for the most part but I would like to see nice ones that came out of a factory.

I have a few sand blast pipes, but this no name pipe is one of my favorites. The ring grain on both sides is very nice, with this side being better by just a little. The only stamping is London England, 529.

I've seen some Stanwells with surprisingly nice blasts. Few examples (not mine):

Concerning the Savinelli, this was an estate piece which I purchased, cleaned, smoked, and then decided that I did not like, so I put it away with the intent of trading it off. Almost a year later I tried it again, but this time I liked it! I do not know which changed, it or me, but regardless I'm glad.

Thanks MLC, I missed that thread. Very interesting info, as always.

Both smoke quite well, the Sasieni is quite petite, but the GBD is a Group 5 or larger. Stem-wise, I'm partial to Sasieni but the GBD is nothing to sneeze at.

Some great pipes here.
Barling's Make Fossil making me droooool.
Wally Frank White Bar is very sweet.
Sasieni Ruff Root is a fine specimen better than most (hard to find a great Ruff Root)
Castello Old Antiquari is one of the best I've seen too.
And Dunhill,

of course.

Dunhill wears the crown, and will always wear the crown.

Long live Alfred Dunhill's White Spot and the inimitable Shell Briar!
