Last week I was fortunate to nab a sealed tin of Edgeworth Sliced Pipe Tobacco which I have dated to be CA 1959-60 due to the lack of things that would have been on the tin prior to and after.
I tried some of the tobacco right out of the tin even though it was definitely dry and in order to prevent a pipe from burning in case it smoked too hot I used the Black Rock Cob which is like soap stone and won't burn. The pipe smoked cool and the flavor was incredible.
The following photos are of the seal being broken:
The lid being opened:
Top layer of the tobacco (its 2 layers one on top of the other for 8 ozs.)
Tobacco removed to separate it to ready it for storage and hydrating.
I have hydrated approx 1 1/2 oz to my satisfaction and enjoyed a wonderful smoke of 55 y/o Edgeworth Sliced in the 65 y/o, birth year, Dunhill Shell Group 2.
