    WTF?

Since they are a Forum sponsor, perhaps it is OK to post this.

Presumably, this pipe was made intentionally. I have not seen another one, but that doesn't mean as much as it used to.

Not sure why the contrast on my links is so weak, but the first line is a link.

Looks silly, but I guess it could come in handy if you want the pipe out of your line of sight while reading or driving, or if you need to smoke around a corner.

Apparently, there is a white dot on both sides.

    Damn there's two of them!

And yes, White Spots on both sides of the stems. Al Pascia's videos are priceless.

It looks plain silly to me, and rather difficult to light.

Nowhere in the world will such a brotherly feeling of confidence be experienced as amongst those who sit together smoking their pipes

Perhaps that's the modern interpretation of their old "windshield" pipe, it's definitely a wrap-around.

I imagine that might be functional for operating a vehicle, be it auto, cycle, or bike. Not very pleasing to my own eye, perhaps for those who value function over form.

Some guys curve to the right while others go left, some middle. Glad to see a pipe for all types.

Yabba-dabba-do! I wonder if the stem is in upside down, or as someone said, there's a white dot on both sides of the stem.

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Ah! Just thought- I bet it was sold to shooters. Perfect for that tramp in the fields, when you raise your shotgun the stummel stays out of your sights.

I remember seeing a similar pipe few days ago on Instagram, it was an old poster I think, a guy with a similar pipe in his mouth.

Dunhill has put out some unusual pipes over the years. Didn't they have one with two bowls, and also one where the bowl didn't have a bottom to it? I think they do this for the collectors.

From a friend who is a Dunhill collector,

"It's an example of the quaint "motorities" pipes that Dunhill made for car drivers... It's meant to be smoked horizontally to reduce increased draught in the pipe whilst driving in an open car. The pipe model can be seen in the 1923 "About Smoke" Dunhill catalogue."

There was quite a bit of discussion about when it was sold in Mar. '14

And yes, from the 1927 About Smoke,

Hmm, a long chuchwarden where the bowl can nestle where dash meets windshield would work, then! Just don't suddenly look out the back window....

Bizarre. The stem is upside down. Maybe it was made for someone who took a lot of sharp right turns.

I suppose the dot's on both sides so that you can curve to the left, or to the right.... depending on your politics

Well observed. That is a cheeky pipe! At first I thought it was some sort of photoshop magic or a heat bent stem ... but reality can be more odd than fiction.

After some time he felt for his pipe. It was not broken, and that was something. Then he felt for his pouch, and there was some tobacco in it, and that was something more. Then he felt for matches and he could not find any at all, and that shattered his hopes completely.

Since this thread came up I've seen several of these pipes turn up on many Italian vendor sites. I suppose this is obvious but, yes, the stems have dots on both sides so that the smoker can warm his/her preferred ear. Very forward thinking of "The White Spot".

If anyone is curious here is a brief photo tour of the "White Spot Factory".

Don't set your hair on fire getting that thing lit. Maybe need President Trump to try to light it. Take care of that hair problem once and for all.

I believe Anthony is correct about the double dot. So you can smoke it to the right or left.

Is it designed for motorcycle smoking use? So you don't have ashes blowing into your eyes?
