If, in a couple of months I want a Dunhill, made in 1947, where should I look for one?

TIA

I would start searching http://www.mkelaw-pipes.com/, http://www.smokingpipes.com/, http://www.briarblues.com/, http://www.pulversbriar.com/index.html, http://www.smokershaven.com/estatepipes.aspx, http://www.twofriendspipes.com/pipes.html, http://www.walkerbriarworks.com/html/consignment_pipes.html, and http://www.neatpipes.com/ now. It may take a while to find a 1947. There are some other sites out there but I frequent those the most. There is always eBay, but some don't like that. Just know your seller and make sure they have a return policy and you'll be fine.

If I wanted that specific an estate pipe, I would contact a few of the bigger vendors directly (Marty Pulver, Briar Blues, etc), give them a deposit, and ask them to hunt one down.

Do a search for a "1947 Dunhill" on Ebay and then "save" that search. Set it for daily updates and you'll get an email anytime someone lists that year Dunhill. It works very well, I have 10 searches and get updates several times a day.

Roth, I agree.

And other way that I learn is by asking those that know more on a subject than I do and weight the results.

Thanks flintlock. Actually, I'm holding off till finances permit. Dunhill was the only pipe company to stamp a date, albeit in code (google John C. Loring), its pipes. Hence the Dunhill birthday pipe quest. Other pipes can be dated only to a general time period.
