I used to make this for friends in Australia who were all beer drinkers. They did not want to try it at first. But soon they were drinking my rum faster than beers

My preferred Manhattan

3 ounces Alberta Premium rye

1 and a half ounces blanco vermouth

2 dashes angostura bitters

My method is combine ingredients in cocktail shaker, add ice (I prefer adding ice after to control the dilution better)

Stir vigorously for 30 seconds

Garnish with orange peel

Serve in well chilled martini glass
My preferred martini

3 ounces gin (I prefer Tanquerey or Bombay Saphire)

1 and a half ounces dry vermouth

combine in cocktail shaker, add ice, stir vigorously for 30 seconds

Serve in well chilled martini glass with 3 olives

I find a martini to be best with a 2 part gin to one part vermouth ratio. I've done alot of research on the martini and a dry martini classically called for more dry vermouth, which today is known as a wet martini. I find a martini you should clearly taste the vermouth and this notion that waving a bottle of vermouth over the glass is a heresy and no longer a martini.

Magadan was a major sorting point for the gulag. My partner's mother was a prisoner and she married a guard after being released. Some fascinating stories in the Region. And, it is a really great vodka. I found none better in entire Far East.

My wife, a Flight/Air Ambulance Physician & her Irish nurse, stopped in Magadan to refuel enroute from AK to China. On the tarmac the ground crew handed the RN a mason jar full of a clear liquid which to their astonishment, the RN tried to taste, only to realize at the last moment that it was jet fuel. She may have thought that it was Magadanskaya Vodka, though it wouldn't have surprised my wife or the other flight crew members if this RN actually drank some jet fuel.
I don't think that Magadanskaya Vodka is available in Colorado.

Also, can't find another vodka which I would like to try, Hetman Vodka, anywhere in the US.

I made a long-idland iced tea. Instead of coke for the colour, I added Cranberry Snapple. The drink looked and tasted just like pink lemonade.
You could serve this at a church potluck, and none could tell. I dubbed it Gospel Jubilee.
