Right you lot! Own up who paid $49 for a sealed tin of Drifter Navy Flake on Ebay. I am curious as I want to know how the contents panned out as I gave up bidding at $33.00!

Mwuahahahaha
It's mine, mine, all mine!
j/k
It was a pro, the buyer had like 2500 feedback.
I was thinking they'd go a little bit higher than the first go round because the seller showed the shiny silver tops in their virginal unmolested pristine condition, but I reckon most folk don't wanna gamble with a complete unknown and T&P seems pretty damn obscure.
Oh yeah,

here's the listing so people will know what the hell we're on about...

And in other eBay news,

I was astounded that this 50g tin of Murray's era University Flake sold for $61 !!!

8O

...somebody gotta good deal onna pouch of Revor Plug,

it went for fair current market value,

And I missed this one because I was outta town dammit,

a glorious tin of Rich Dark Honeydew,

I've had some old dried out 80's era stuff from a rectangular tin and it was oddly spicy for me, I didn't really like it but it may have just gone stale or something and not have been at its peak level,

anyway, the cutter tops usually preserve the baccy much better, and I love the guy witha pipe on the tin!

And this old rare Lucky Strike tin is something I had my eye on,

LS/MFT

I've alwayd dug Luckies, but it went for $316.77 :crying:

On another Lucky front was this very early packet of the filtered ciggie version, complete with BAT stickers and went for an absolute bargain, if I would have been home I would have been bidding onnit,

Finally,

That pipe is something to behold like you would a train wreck or a video montage of people getting kicked in the nads (Ow, my balls! from Idiocracy).
It seems some hobby communities have infamous articles that are just so bad that everyone knows of them. This World's Worst Pipe would certainly qualify: terrible assembly, terrible design, corny and horribly executed dragon/horse with glue on googly eyes. "It looks fancy because it has an - what I can only assume is aluminum- ring."
The only way you could possibly smoke out of it is to turn the stem upside down and then risk getting poked in the eye by the penis(?).

Troy I thought I would pick up the Drifter, the other was a aromatic of the type you bought last week, but not at that price. The other tin had a rattle so I gave that a wide berth as the seller freely admitted it had a pin hole so that was guaranteed to be Mummy dust. I will happily buy sealed tins from the 1930s providing they are flakes since as you rightly point out the 'cutter' tins do seem to keep the tobacco in excellent condition. I am just surprised at the prices being paid for this stuff. I have remarked in the past that when Gidea Park Tobacco Stores closed in 1982/83 I could have purchased all the unopened cutter tins of tobacco at One Pound a tin that you might have ever wanted! My late Father and I looked through the boxes and a lot of it was stuff even he didn't recognize and he was in his 70s at that time!
