I've been sitting on this pipe for a couple months now and decided it was time for its first smoke today. It is a Dr. Grabow Freehand that I picked up at an estate sale along with a few others. The thing cleaned up very nicely and man does it have some pretty birdseye. I smoked a mixture if Nightcap and Peterson's Holiday Spirit (delicious if you haven't tried it). It smoked cool, dry, and all the way to the bottom with minimal relights. Pics for enjoyment.

Wow, that's some great cross-grain and birdseye!

WTG, a winner for sure! Glad to hear she smokes as good as she looks and thanks for posting

I love my Grabow Freehand. That's my Saturday pipe. I bought mine new and it still smokes great. Congrats on your find and may you enjoy many years with it.

I had thought about gifting this one to a guy I know, but I think I may have to keep it. There will be others I can pick up for him...

A friend sent me one recently that was in pretty rough shape. It had no stem and looked like it had been kicked around, dropped off a building and run over by a car. Here's the after picture.
