I pulled this little Kaywoodie pipe out of the junk box and cleaned it up. I was working on the stem when I found a back crack in the tenon. I really don't feel like drilling the shank and putting a new tenon on the stem, so I just finished cleaning up the stummel for the heck of it. It really turned out nice. If you are in need of this bowl for your own project, let me know, it's yours for free.

There was a crack in the tenon? Wow wonder what they did that would crack a metal stinger. Someone must have been mad. I might have one that fits, but I'm not 100% sure. Gorgeous job on the clean up though

The problem is that on some Kawoodie pipes the tenon is not metal, but composit. When those crack, generally from over clocking, there isn't a lot you can do to save them. At least not without drilling out the stem, removing the threads from the shank, replacing the tenon......you get the picture.
