Dates on Tinned Tobacco

I was wondering if there was any way to determine when a tin of tobacco was produced? My latest tin of Frog Morton shows 460813.
Any known Dick Tracy decoder rings?

Last 2 digits on most McClelland tins are the year it was produced as far as I know.

First two digits are the blend, second two are the batch number, last two are the year. Wish they would use month instead of batch number.

That only works on McClelland, though - every company has their own system.

Aren't Orlik blends MMDDYY? Or is it YYDDMM? Either or, your Escudos and OGS's have a 6 digit on them, and one of those is correct AFAIK.

Many European blends are YYDDMM including Dunhill and Orlik.
