Flys have been bugging me all summer. Tried fly paper and traps, the trap works well, but not well enough. Finally picked up this guy.

His name is Audrey III. Anyone else have experience w/ Venus Fly Traps? Advice?

There's been a big furor in North Carolina over the last decade around people harvesting Venus fly traps from

their native areas, which if I remember correctly are in the mountains. Don't know about West Coast fly traps,

whether they are indigenous. I think they are kind of particular about humidity and light, so they may take some

attention to keep them happy. I don't know how hungry they are. Yours is a great example of the plant; looks

in great shape.

We had an issue with flies this year (read this as my damn kids wouldn't close the door when they came in and got the "Do you live in a barn??" all summer). I was SOOOOO tempted to get one. Not just for the flies, I think they are cool. When I was younger my mom had one and would feed it chopped meat if it wasn't getting any bugs.
