After I cleaned up this estate Master Craft I just picked up I noticed this crack. The inside is metal, for the screw in stem+

, so I took a chance in smoking it and no further damage. It smoked real well so id like ti keep using it. What are the chances that it'll just explode? I kind of think it broke from bring rapped too hard but that's purely my idea.

If you don't go beating on it to much you should be able to get several more years out of that pipe. The female threaded insert usually extends into the shank for about 1/2 to 3/4",well past where it is cracked.

You could band it. Check out the copper compression fittings at the hardware store. Here is one I have that was done this way.

Or you can send it off for a band to be glued on over the end of the shank. Walker Briar Works does an excellent job of banding.
