Has anyone ever heard of them? I couldn't find much on them. I do know that the pipe I have from them is most likely over 50 years old.

Well it was my great grandfathers and from what I have seen online it might be from London but that's all I know

That's what I thought but I saw somewhere that it could have been made in London

Courtley was a male mail order magazine from the early to mid 40's. They sold a wide variaty of items from shaving kits to pipes to cologne. So i would assume they had a number of pipe carvers that never got the credit for the pipes and they range from $20(Estate) to $70(New). From what I could find. The company went under with the U.S. entering WWII.

Any ideas on how to get rid of an oxidization on a stem without using a buffing wheel?

Use multiple grades of micro mash and it will shine right up. Start with the loest number grit and work your way up to the highest number grit. Once done you can put carnuba wax on it and buff it up good.

Mystery solved! It was an "economy" line put out by Custombilt.

Hope that helped.

Oh and this ad piece is from Rogers Imports Catalog, 1957.

That makes a lot of sense! The other pipe I got was a custombilt and it has the same distinct rustification. Thanks for the help guys!

Hello-
First post here. Just wanted to point out that if you enjoyed seeing the page from the Rogers catalog, do take a minute (or more!) to visit my site, Pipepages which has hundreds of old pipe catalogs scanned and indexed.
Best,
Chris Keene
