Here are a couple of pipes I'm making. The warden looking one I'm thinking of boiling the stem to bend. I forgot how long wood has to boil to be slightly bendable.

May the force be with you on that one!...I've bent a lot of wood over the years- usually with steam. A green wood like white oak split from the log and shaved down to shape works as well. In this case I'd boil it for an hour and use a male and female curved form to press it to shape and hold it until dry...

I want to see how this goes as I have been wondering about bending wood stems. Although I want to use bamboo.

Bending wood with hot water or steam is mysterious enough, but how it stays bent in the desired shape

with humidity and time is unfathomable to me.
