I don't own any Winslows yet. Am considering picking up a Crown. Are they similar in quality and smoking characteristics to a similarly priced Nording? Recommend the purchase? Thanks!

Have the sales clerk examine the drilling and fit of the stem. Quite a few do not match up to the standards of the regular Winslow line.
Good to know, thanks!

I have 2 Crowns, a 200, and a 300, a Winslow Grade E, that being said the crowns are very good smokers, in Mr Winslow words the only difference between the Crowns and the Winslows is the density and grain of the briar, same drilling, same hand made techniques . I can attest to that with the 2 that I have, in fact I believe they have the edge on the similar grade Nordings. Just my thoughts.

Good to hear you've had positive experiences. They do look quite nice in the photos at my preferred enabler...er...vendor.

I have a Crown 200 pipe, excellent smoker and couldn't be more pleased with it. The only downside for me is that it's a 9mm filter pipe, but still an excellent smoker for my aromatics! Recommended.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll go for the crown. Nice looking pipes.

I have a Crown and a Hand Made Grade E. The Crown took a lot of time to break in as there was stain in the shank. However, after that it was a good smoker. The Hand Made is an excellent pipe and took very little time to break in. It's clearly made with more care and an eye towards artistry. If you can, I would buy the Hand Made.
