Nice looking pipe. Does it have the stinger?
The 87 is one of the shapes they're still making today, if you want to try one of the current production pipes.

Though I only have four zulus in my collection, it is a favorite, and that one is a beautiful example.

That's pretty cool, I very rarely recall seeing one with the stinger apparatus in place.
I was not able to locate how long the Grand Slam was available.

The Comoy is a lithe graceful version of the zulu. I have a Sav 404 and a Rossi 8404 (same shape and similar number), which are a great zulu shape with an oval shank, but not as trim and spare as the Comoy.

Grand slams are just about my favorite estate pipes to buy. Your’s was very likely made somewhere between 1945 to 1965. There’s a reference the line continued in to the 70’s but I haven’t seen any catalogs of that age. The stinger is removable, usually.

It suggests your pipe was made in the 50’s.

Thanks for the info, yes the stinger can be removed and was very easy to unscrew.

I have removed it for now as it was gurgling a bit, need to build some cake in the heel of the bowl and slow down my cadance
