Bored out of my mind today waiting for a contractor to finish some work. I had found someone in my neighborhood had cut down some of their bamboo and I took a few branches to make some stakes for my garden.

I was sitting out back smoking my pipe and remembered that someone had posted recently about making a cob warden and I thought it might be a decent time waster.

It took a while to figure if I wanted to go without a bit.

After a few experiments this is what I came up with... The bamboo is still green and I need to figure out how to dry it without cracking it.

I tried a smoke and it was pretty nice. If anything I got to see what smoking a churchwarden is like.

While I smoked it I started on making a tamper to go with it.

Very nice looking. Since you've already smoked it with green bamboo, it will be interesting to see how it smokes when the bamboo ages. Keep us updated!

Love the new stem, but gotta give a nod to your 'pipe stand' as well.

Not sure how I missed this earlier ... very interesting idea!
Nicely crafted and I love the stand as well.

Very nice, I like it. And as rolldog mentioned, the "stand" is nice also.
