I really would avoid salt alcohol treatments. Trim the cake, scrub out the airway (stem and bowl)and system reservoir with Everclear-soaked pipe brushes, pipe cleaners, and Q-tips. That should solve most ills. I have heard too many smart folks tell me that the prolonged exposure to alcohol involved in salt-alcohol treatments harms the smoking properties of the briar.
