Here
I have a Savinelli with a rusticated rim and a BriarWorks with a lined rim.
The recommended "spit polish" technique that does well on smooth rims is much less effective with these.
How do you keep your non-smooth rims happy?

Hi Jay
This may offer some ideas, just after the 4 minute mark.

On my Plateaus, I enjoy watching the creep crawl over the rim and add to the beauty of the natural plateau. I have a Randy Wiley that has an impressive amount of cake that has creeped over the rim. It's kinda beautiful in a sublime sort of way. But on my rusticated rims, I use an old electric toothbrush dipped in coffee (leftover in the bottom of the pot works well). Then I just rinse off the pipe with water and dry.

I see, thank you. Being the one that actually uses the kitchen in my household, I could probably get away with the “spit toothbrush”. I do see however, the benefit of using coffeee instead.

Yeah if it is really bad or a burn issue I will sometimes use a brass wire brush but this can lead to restraining. Not always though. Did a Savinelli this week. It took the burn off but not the stain.
