It came in the mail today... well actually yesterday, so this morning I had to hit the Post Office and pick it up as I was out all day yesterday. But now I have it and am the proud owner of a Savinelli Caramella 920 smooth finish. Can't wait to break it in!

Thanks. I've made the phone call to thank my dad.

What kind of surprised me was the band. On the websites it kind of looks like a silverish finish, but it actually looks like one of those vanilla candies with chocolate swirls/lines. Love the look of it, and once again can't wait to start breaking it in.

Merry Christmas to you (or us all for that matter)! I absolutely love the look of that pipe. If it feels and smokes as good as it looks, you have my envy.

yeah i like that, looks elegant

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."

My Caramella sandblast 626 is on the way. If it looks near as good as that, I'll be quite happy. Put some soot in that bowl!

Quick update. I've had four break in bowls already (yes I did save the first bowl for Christmas morning & a bowl of Peterson's Holiday Season 2011) and it smokes wonderfully. I chose to keep the balsa wood filter in because I don't have any filter pipes and was curious of how they smoke. Turns out I don't mind the filter at all. Doesn't seem to take away from the flavour for me. If you've ordered one of these Caramellas I have to say you won't be disappointed with how they smoke. Nice draw, cool and dry. The bowl is a little warm at times, but my guess is because I'm still breaking it in and building up the cake. I'd venture to say the bowl will more than likely cool down once it's broken in more.

Nice pipe, nice dad, enjoy !

"The fact is, squire, the moment a man takes to a pipe, he becomes a philosopher. It's the poor man's friend; it calms the mind, soothes the temper, and makes a man patient under difficulties. It has made more good men, good husbands, kind masters, indulgent fathers, than any other blessed thing on this universal earth."
