After my wife got a wiff of PS Sweet Vanilla, she wants me to find a Cherry aromatic (this is the same wife that will not let me smoke in the house). So, Stongirish's review of PS Sweet Vanilla was dead on, and I liked it. Anyone got a Cherry aromatic favorite to recommend?

I just tried Mac Baren 7 Seas Red the other night and I think you'll like it. It didn't bite in my non-filtered Savinelli and it wasn't like smoking cough syrup either. It had a slight cherry taste/olfactory throughout the bowl. It did need some drying time, though as it was quite moist at first.

+1 to 7 Seas Red Blend. This is by far my favourite cherry blend. The cherry isn't your usual sweet marachino cherry flavouring. It's a semi-tart wild cherry flavour which is very good. The flavouring comes through just right in the smoke.

7 Seas line has a cherry blend, didn't know that.

I have never found a cherry blend I like. (I have not tried 7 Seas.) They have all tasted like cough syrup. I do like Prince Al cherry vanilla, however. Good tobacco taste, and not cloying. It and PA Soft Vanilla are the only OTC aros I can stomach.

CAO's Cherry Bomb; cherry/vanilla blend. Its not "over the top" like so many and does not smoke hot.

Word of advice if you're looking to try the 7 Seas Red Blend, you can get it in bulk. So, a 2oz sample is under $5.

+1 on the 7 Seas Red. It's the only cherry tobacco I like. Nice light clean flavor.

I used to like Rattray's Terry red. Don't know if they still make it though.

Boswell's Sweet and Mild isn't bad for a once in a while smoke. Also Uhle's Wild Cherry is pretty good - nice tart flavor. I have tried Sterlings/1776 Nantucket Cherry - however it isn't very cherry in flavor and it tends to burn very hot in a briar - so I no longer smoke it. May have to try 7 Seas Red at some point as I like a cherry flavor sometimes. Still haven't found the bell ringer on this Aro yet.

I have the same problem, Jud, but 7 Seas Red is the only cherry I've been able to smoke. It's also not that overly sweet fake cherry flavor with an over abundance of syrup. It's more of a tart wild cherry. It's clean, drier than other cherry blends I've tried and doesn't give a bite.

Sillem's Red has a very nice Apple, Plum and Cherry type flavor to
    my taste, high quality bacci

Also Top Black Cherry has a "real" cherry flavor but was very intense, so
I blended some prem burley 50/50 with it and it is now one of my fav blends,
give that a try as well

I also here Boswell's cherry blend is fantastic, have to still try it

McClelland Bulk M27 Three Cherries is the only cherry I've smoked so I can't compare it to others, but I've liked it so far.

Thanks all for your input. Jason has gotten to know, what my tongue can take, and what my taste buds like, so I will be ordering Mac Baren 7 Seas Red tomorrow. I will let you all know what I think when I get my order. Thanks again!

Looks like I have a few more cherry blends to add to my TAD list. I forgot to mention that my wife never got a chance to smell the room note of the 7seas Red so I don't have any empirical data for that. Let us know what your wife thinks of it.

Paladin was too cough syrupy for me. I want to try Middletons Cherry one day (any opinions). The 7 seas sounds interesting...

+1 on the CAO Cherry Bomb. My wife likes the smell of that better than all my other baccys. The tin note is potent, but the actual flavor is mellow.

If you want a mild cherry blend that doesn't bite or taste like cough syrup try Boswell's PA Dutch Treat. It's been a favorite of mine for years and I always keep some here on hand.

yes sir there are alot of different cherry type tobacs out there. i want to try GH top black cherry myself. i smoke aromatics from time to time. i will say however if you try middletons cherry blend or pallidins black cherry, they both are better out of the tub rather than the pocket pouches in my opinion. they require sipping in order to be appreciated. go luck in your quest.

I just tried PA Cherry vanilla and was quite suprised. Not that bad, very mild and kinda non-discript but pleasant none the less. Would recommend this to someone who wants to try an aromatic. mild and does not bite. Going to go smoke another bowl right now just before the Carolina/Duke basketball game. Go Heels!!!!!!

Pauls pipe shop of flint, michigan has sweet cherry cavedish. I found it to be pretty good. Although unless you live some what close to flint, this wont help you

I'd be interested in your review! Middletons Cherry is one of the cherry blends that's quite plentiful in the shops around here.

I personally love cherry blends and recommend a few. Sterlings madrid burns cool and has a nice cherry flavor and I recently tried Mccranies black cherry which also has a great cherry flavor but it doesnt hit until about mid bowl it seems. Mccranies three cherry is good as well. An OTC I like is paladins black cherry but many will tell you it tastes like cough syrup but I disagree.

Prince Alberts cherry/vanilla is really mild and was my first smoke ever. I just cant find it anymore...

I have not been too keen on most cherry blends - not because I don't like cherry, because I do ......To me, most seem artificial, medicinal, chemical , bad aftertaste etc. - I decided on trying a blend by Hearth & Home called "Manor Heights"- man, this stuff is FABulous! Mild, light and full of a lovely cherry taste that lingers on the palette - absolutely NO BAD aftertaste! A very satisfying smoke. I just placed an order with P&C for an 8oz tin! It's one worth a try!

No one mentioned Sam Gawith's Celtic Talisman. I smoke it a lot and the wife likes the room note, just a light cherry.

Fruit is something you eat as a dessert. It should not be lit and smoked, we have better flora for that. Try olfactory illusion: I've heard some of those poor people who don't smoke a pipe describe the fragrance of fine Perique as lemony fresh...

Besides PA Dutch Treat, Boswell's has another blend called Cherry Smash that I have heard many good things about. I plan to put some on my next order to them. Carole Burns at Pipeworks and Wilke also has a cherry blend that has gotten rave reviews. Next time I order from her I will have to get some.
