to jar or not to jar, that is the question
It turns out that I am not immune to TAD. I have several tins that I'd like to try and some I'd like to save.
What are the benefits of leaving a blend to age in its tin as opposed to a sealed jar? I am working on some Early Morning, and I have that in a jar so it doesn't dry out ( I can't smoke it all before it dries). I know that's supposed to improve it, but more so than a sealed tin?
Do you guys just jar all your tins? Or do you just jar the blends you are smoking at the moment?

Not likely, but the jar has a better seal so there is less risk of lossage.

Depends on how soon I intend to consume them. It would be foolish for me to jar Royal Yacht since I get to the tins quickly and then go through them within a week (or sometimes, a day or two, which falls short of Cosmic's record for smoking one in an afternoon).
Or do you just jar the blends you are smoking at the moment?
Many of us order bulk tobacco and jar it immediately so that it can (1) age and (2) be safer from the elements than it would be in bags.
With tins, it seems silly to jar, so many seal the tins in mylar bags or in air-tight plastic boxes.

If the tins are sealed, and you think you will get to them within five years, it is reasonably safe to keep the tins on a dark, cool shelf somewhere.

I leave mine in the tins until I want to smoke them and once open, and if I won't smoke it within a week it goes into a jar. Leaving it in the sealed tin until ready to smoke eliminates the possibility of contamination from mould and such like and also keeps it at the correct moisture. In my mind anyway.

I often empty a tin into a bail top jar as soon as I open it. Then it's easy to check the moisture and more often than not I leave the top open to let the leaf dry down, sometimes a lot. I keep the hygrometer in the jar so it's easy to check how it's doing. Once it's ca. 65% RH I close 'er up, but smoke from it several times a day.

The English style tins make me nervous so I add some additional protection around the outside of the tin. (Electric tape over the joint) but generally I keep things in the tins until I am ready to use it and then I jar it.

I keep all of my tins sealed until I open one. Once I open a tin, I put it in a tupperware like container while I am smoking through it. The containers I use for open tins, keep my tobacco fresh for over a year. I normally have 20 or so open tins at the same time.
