Sweet, took me a long time to get a Castello with a white bar (made for the European market) those destined for US sales sported the foil dot but both smoke very well! Enjoy.....

Yes, it is a briar shank treatment, and I'm quite looking forward to it!
banjo, the foil dot was used primarily Back In The Day to separate US from EU-bound pipes but now the vast majority have the white bar. They do still use the dot on new pipes rather irregularly, supposedly to reinforce a trademark.
That's a fine estate. There's something about Castello that hits notes of both simplicity and sophistication. I think their briar air cures for about 30 years, which is not bad. Definitely worth the price.
