As some of you know there was a little SNAFU a few weeks ago as one of my pipes ended up at the wrong address and was promptly beheaded to make a pipe tamper. The Pipe, A LaCroix, was rusticated by JasonGone and he did a beautiful job on rusticating the pipe. The pipe was made into a tamper by another member, EJames and I was lucky enough to get the bowl back. Long story short, I got a tamper, a replacement pipe from Jason. I took the bowl to my pipe fixit guy - Tom Tessier of Bear Briar and he crafted a stunning Bamboo shank and put a lucite stem on the bowl - Take a gander and see how this tragedy ended up beautifully:

He did a fantastic job on it! How's the smoke? Any different than what you remember the pipe being before the mishap?

Southerners don't talk slow because they're dumb, we do it because there's really no rush.

The pipe smokes even better and it looks great too. Since I am partial to bents - it is my impression that the pipe's draw is much improved - that is if possible for bents. Also - I love the bent bamboo shank and there is a nice lucite stem that totally matches the spirit of the rustication of the bowl by Jason.

After all the hard work Jason put into rusticating it - I just wasn't going to give up on this one. Just want all members to know that not only JasonGone & EJames do amazing work - but they both demonstrated integrity far beyond beyond my expectations. I highly recommend their work - as they keep their word and deliver the goods.

Glad to see that you saved that pipe Charles!! How many people can say that they have a pipe and a tamper that were once one? I have made maybe 30 tampers like yours but not once has the bowl been returned to service. BUT-I still has a good many of those bowls, why I saved them is anybody's guess. Maybe.............

Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated!!

That is so cool! Now you have an awesome story behind your unique pipe!

Wouldn't mind trying to do what Charles had done to his pipe. Soon as a I can get a few pennies ahead I want to order more pipe making supplies, maybe a few pieces of bamboo also?
