Short version:
Google controls the economy. Google loves titles in caps (This Is A Title).
If you write your titles in all caps, Google loves Kevin, and he gets to live off this website.
That means one more person saved from the utter bloody tedium of jobs.
This is a moral question, not a typographic one.
Write your title in caps, and if I screw it up and forget, beat me with a tin of Royal Yacht.
I won't mind.

Then how do you Google e.e. cummings?
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

any experience, your eyes have their silence:

in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,

or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me

though i have closed myself as fingers,

you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens

(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and

my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly,

as when the heart of this flower imagines

the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals

the power of your intense fragility:whose texture

compels me with the color of its countries,

rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes

and opens;only something in me understands

the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

e. e. cummings, who was a brilliant poet and wonderfully hopeless romantic, lower-cased everything so no one would ever have to do it again. Which of course led hundreds of thousands to imitate him slavishly. Ah, poetry.

Why all initial caps on titles? First it's a publishing tradition. Some newspapers and magazines do not follow this, but thinking as a designer rather than a lay-out man, I don't think it improves the looks of their pages. Second, either because of habit or some neurological factor, titles with all initial caps are easier to scan for a majority of readers, so people can decide what to read more quickly. Especially when you're trying to go back to a particular post by title, your own or someone else's, it's quicker and easier with caps. Also, I'm a proponent of trying to capture the content of the post in the title. In a few rare cases something like "I Was Thinking..." or "Feeling Low..." inspires interest, but then also disappoints when the subject doesn't interest the reader after all. The title should peg the content, the more precisely the better. I'm not saying all this to apple polish Forums management, nor because I'm such a starchy old traditionalist. To the contrary, I like to push the limits of content and form, but to do that, you have to have a structure on which to hang your wild meanderings. Help your reader out.
