Check out MacQueen pipes, they used to be a site sponsor but I guess they're not any longer. Google them and you'll see they make a LOTR inspired set of churchwardens with wooden stems. The only thing to note is they long order time, I ordered mine in January and it ships tomorrow. Hope it was worth the wait, my understanding is they are based on reviews I've read.

It hasn't been a horror to deal with them at all, just a long wait. But they did mention that up front and they appear to be on track with their original ship dates. For sure I'll get a picture or two of my ugly mug with my pipe. I ordered the cherry wood Halfling pipe.

It took my order seven months to finally arrive. I also got a couple of emails from them advising that the pipe had shipped during that time but never received the pipe. After writing a few emails and not getting any response I gave up on ever getting it. Then one day it showed up. One thing I will say is that it was well worth the wait. Well made and smokes wonderfully. If you ordered your pipe in January and it shows up this soon maybe they have finally gotten things in order with their business. I got the Wizard in briar by the way. Hope yours shows up soon.

If you want a MAcQueen pipe, look on ebay or the various site sponsors. I know pipesandcigars.com carries them, and others might too.

As long as I got a pipe full of baccy and a nose full of snuff, I'm a happy camper

Wow, they are cool-looking pipes, but all the horror stories of those waiting months and months for their pipes makes me hesitant to order from them. Not meaning to bash them, but you might want to do a little research if you are considering an order.

I'll let everyone know how I fare with mine, so far everything is on track. If they ship when they said they would then I'll be happy (of course once pipe is in hand). I'm only an hour or so away from them so the shipping shouldn't take too long.

@ ravenwolfe = I wouldn't bother with Mac Queen, for me, the effective range of an excuse is zero meters. But to each his/her own.

You probably can find an artisan to make a briar stem for the Vauen pipe which is a great pipe. Did you contact Vauen? Vauen still makes a whole bunch of different CW styles; P&C alone offers 6 Vauen CW styles right now.

A briar stem can be made, but the time it would take to find a pipe restorer or artisan who would take on the commission and then the time it would take to do it would require a boatload of focused research and patience on your part.

If I were you, I'd contact Vauen and ask for that pipe you want with a longer stem. Here's the link and good luck to you: http://www.vauen.de/contact/en/8.html

Vauen makes great pipes for the money. I don't own one, but those who do own one usually own more than one and Vauen has received only good comments here on PM Forums. The only caviat I have is most, if not all Vauen pipes do take a filter. This isn't an issue, IMO, because you can always smoke the pipe without a filter (there are plastic adapters available for peanuts). If you do order the pipe from Vauen, I suggest you also order the adapter, if it does not already come with the pipe you purchase.

I love the design of the Vauen pipe you picked out. I also like the fact that, if you get the pipe with the "extra" (CW) stem, you can also choose to smoke the pipe with the original stem, which is a big bonus.

Goot luck and let us know how you make out!

Hey guys I got in touch with Vauen and unfortunatly because of the licenseing agreement that wasnt renewed they apparently cannot make a long wooden stem pipe thats bowl looks that similar to the gandalf pipe.So getting a stem from them is out of the question.I have been in contact with Tom from Luna pipes and he said he could definitly fit a wooden stem to the pipe.I am awaiting email back with more details.Crossing my fingers

A wooden stem would certainly look great on that pipe or even a long Forever Stem from Walker. Getting the stem stain to match up will be tricky, but a good briar refinisher will mix up a matching stain. Good luck with it and post pics when you get it!
