I picked this up out of the family barn in NC a few weeks ago. Can anyone guess what it is, and how it relates to the hobby?

Cosmic, I would rather get paid for not doing it also.

Labor intensive.

Around me, get paid for not growing it & grow something else you can sell.

Double dip, one for your produce & one from the Gov. (taxpayers)

Am in NC.

As I get closer to retirement, I have been considering returning to NC, and maybe getting into the gourmet tobacco scene... or artichokes, LOL. The pay subsidies for not growing aren't exactly lucrative. Last I checked it was like $100 (approx) a month. Most have chosen cattle now a days anyway.
But, as I get into the hobby, I am finding a fascination with the idea of growing.

The tobacco barn isn't in much better shape either, since my folks started getting paid to NOT grow tobacco.
Thanks for pointing that out. A lot of folks may not realize that goes on.
