Great read sir, thanks for posting.
I agree with the majority of what Mr. Rutt writes, especially the last lines:
Pipe means being calm, thoughtful, intelligent. Pipe means a man who is comfortably masculine.
In other words, a man with a pipe has many virtues -- and it means Dad.
And that’s not such a bad thing.

Read the blog and appreciated his comments. I also went through a similar journey. Started in college, gave up all smoking, however, for thirty years, and then picked up pipe smoking again when my son brought out a pipe I had given him years before and fired it up.

Sounds like my uncle. When I started smoking pipes in 1956 he told me "cigarettes are for nervous people, pipes are for calm and thoughtful people."
