I was trolling through some of my odds and ends drawer - just random tins I have picked up along the way - thinking I would open something tonight and try something I have never tried before. I see I have a few tins of Pelican in that drawer and was debating whether I should pop one. Have any of you tried it? Any good?

It's a very good Oriental. Be warned though, it's been hard to find for the last 3 or 4 years so don't get too fond of it.

It's similar. Kingfisher (equally hard to find) is a closer match.

Kingfisher and pelican are both awesome.
I stocked up on kingfisher in 2010, enough to last for a good run. Not so much pelican though.

Pelican is super smooth, very flavorful. Oriental heavy for sure, but not really spicy like Red Rapparee (more latakia maybe?). I don't find it too much like Penzance, which to me was more like a cup of coffee with cream. It's obviously hard to describe just how two tobaccos compare (especially years apart).
Anyway the Pelican is a treat, open one up and enjoy it.
