Hey, everyone. Over the last two days, I have had the “nipples” of two stem extenders and a pipe stem break. Is this normal? I have an image but I’m not sure how to post it here.

Right click on the photo and left click on "copy image address"

Then left click on the "IMG" button/box

Right click inside the space and left click "paste"
Try that for the photo.

Ah, broken tenon. Pipe Repair shops can replace those.

Were you removing the stem when the pipe was hot?

Embers, thank you for reposting my picture. I am not sure why I cannot see mine, but at least it's there.
I may have removed it when it was still warm, but it was always straight out and back in: no bending. I can see how the heat could affect the plastic tenons, but I didn't expect them to start flaking off in pieces.

New one to me, also.
Make? Did the piece come off while re-inserting? Can it still be used as is?
It's a Dr. Watson pipe. On the first piece (not shown) the tenon was cracked halfway down and more than halfway through. I discovered it when I removed the extended for cleaning. The two shown I discovered the next day, also when I removed them for cleaning. The latter two can still be used, but the first one cannot.
