Hey all so I just bought an estate pipe from smokingpipes and it says it has bowl charring but the rating is a 4.35 out of 5. Will this affect my smoke or anything to worry about?

I doubt it will affect your smoke (unless you get that queasy feeling in your stomach looking at a non-perfect rim when you light it up, lol!). Probably means that the previous owner had trouble finding the tobacco chamber when lighting his pipe and hit the rim instead of the tobacco 8)
However, heavy charring of the rim could cause for a burned down region which indeed could harm the integrity of the pipe. But I think smokingpipes.com would not advertise that as a 4.3 out of 5 quality ;-)

mrgunner, that is nice, if you want to see charring, you should see a couple of my Pete's I use for the car. I like your new Trevi.

That style of finish will hide any rim/bowl charring pretty well. It might be one of those "Only you will know" situations.

I would go for it Gunnar, that is nice and those dark finished will hide the charring well.

Gunner bought a Mario Grande for half price because old man used a torch lighter and burnt a spot on rim, took micro mesh and worked it out, polished it up and you really have to look to see it, go for it. The old cajun
