King cakes have been a Mardi Gras tradition for many generations, but last Friday I had my first slice of boudain (sausage) filled king cake. Covered w. a lightly sweet glaze, crumbled bacon, and raisins. Simply delicious.

I made a King cake from scratch last year for my wife. It took me 6 hours...
I don't know if I would have the fortitude to add meat into that equation.

Our daughter sent us one last year, I almost broke a tooth on the baby!

The boudain cake sounds like it might be good for breakfast, over some scrambled eggs.

Fat Tuesday! The day before 40 days of denial. supposedly.

In Pennsylvania they have Fasnacht Day.

You take you some Boudin, black iron skillet, hog fat, start with the Baudoin fry, let it get brown Cher, listen to the crackle, throw in a handful of cracklings, den break them eggs and whip it like you mad. Take you a big plate, slide it in, crack you a big cold beer, get the Radio on KROF, HAPPY fats time. Tonar Ma Sa Say Bon! P.S I would have said Pop With Foam On Top, but you Yankees would not have known that Cher.

Love em both but do not think I would like my boudain in the cake. It sure tastes great with grits, eggs, fried tatters, and cat head biscuits.
