Laser art on pipes...
Not sure if best idea I've ever heard of, or pipe mutilation.

Agree Rothnh, has to be limited and with respect to the briar...Might be nice for Pipe club customizations, etc. (on shank) but not blasted with images all over the briar ;-)

I wonder how long it will be before someone offers personalised pipes with your picture on them?
As mentioned above, it might be useful for putting a pipe club logo on the bowl.

I am sure that they can do variable data (personalized). & thesmokindragon, you used to make the best looking Cobs I ever saw.

@instymp-thank you for the kind words on my work. I have really been

trying to tool up to start carving briars again, will probably throw a

few good 'ol times custom cobs out there in the future as well. I really

enjoyed making them...but the real enjoyment was getting all the

great feedback and seeing those customs being smoked out there

A sure sign that I was born to be a pipe-maker, IMHO

1) If it is done by an artisan with the right design to match the grain on a particular briar it could be amazing.
2) If it done by some dude with a computer and a preprogrammed clip art file it will be totally tacky.

I LOVE my Boswells but not really a fan of this. Would feel better if it was carved.

I don't much care whether an image in carved or not -- just whether or not it looks good. In this case, I think it will depend entirely on the design and the pipe. I can easily think of a lot of disasters, but I think some spectacular briars could also be produced.

I think it's cool. After all, pipe making is an art so this seems like a natural extension of that.
