So I am looking on Amazon for some books about pipes and pipe smoking. I am finding a variety out there but can only afford 2-3 at this time. Was wondering if I can get some recommendations on which ones I should start out with.

Well I can tell what started with. Richard Carlton Hacker's 2nd edition The ultimate Pipe Book. You'll get differing opinions on his info but it's not a bad place to start. I have not read Rick Newcomb's book but I would imagine them to be well written as well.
