Nate was wondering how these two compared. I didn't get back into pipstering till after these were introduced, but I've amassed some of each for my Top200 Cellar. I suspect I would have like BS more when it was fresh, but both have mellowed so much that I consider them diminished. The Renaissance has held up better.
Both at this point are wonderfully nuanced and complex, as are all of Greg Pease's masterpieces (pretty much all of them). Gaslight though is simply bigger - kind of like Wagner compared to Mozart and Bach. I was busy ffishing so failed to score the RReserve. I thought I would catch up with some at this week's Golden Gate Pipe Club meeting, when I expect to sit down with Greg. But he never got a tin for himself. So that A-B comparison will have to be another time. Too bad, since I was bringing an 8 oz bag of Renaissance to pop for the occasion.
