I’ve been working through a tin of Blairgowrie and was looking for a bit of a change up. I mixed a 50/50 blend of Blairgowrie and Esoterica Margate.
The two blends compliment each other quite well. The subtleties of Blairgowrie are bolstered by a deeper sweetness and rounder mouth feel. Overall it becomes a more “easy” smoking blend. The finer cut of the Margate also makes for a no-relights required situation, leading to a cooler smoke. The aftertaste has some of that Esoterica mouth coating without it being as obvious as with straight Margate.
The mix stands as distinct from its two components and I’ll be making up a small batch to enjoy over the next couple weeks.

Congrats! I love it when you get it right the first time with something as straight forward as a 50/50 mixture! I do a mix of Peterson Irish Flake with Comoy's Cask #7 Single coin sliced at the same proportions with awesome results. The sum is better than the parts. :puffy:
