My first attempt at ending a black bamboo stem for this morta and ivory pipe... Had a pretty good bend in the clamps, but had a lot of springback- I'll try it again with more steam and several days in the clamps...Still kept a subtle curve that looked pretty good...

A simple and ugly bending rig...

Don't know if it works but I read somewhere that bamboo can be soaked in hot water to bend or straighten. Love that pipe!

I actually soaked it in a wet paper towel and nuked it in the microwave...I'll figure it out after a few more experiments...

I heard that using some ammonia in the water helps with the bending.

Don't know how or why, but it's something you can look into.

Also don't know it that would ruin the taste of the pipe.
